Learn Needlepoint Stitches: Double Nobuko Stitch

Double Nobuko Stitch is a great stitch for feathers! It is fundamentally the same as regular Nobuko Stitch, except each element has been doubled. Read this blog to learn more about it.

Double Nobuko Stitch is a great stitch for feathers! It is fundamentally the same as regular Nobuko Stitch, except each element has been doubled. This means it is made up of pairs of stitches over one, followed by pairs of stitches over three canvas threads, that slant from lower left to upper right.

This stitch is best worked in horizontal rows. Work as far as you can from right to left, and when you are ready to start your next row, your stitches over one will meet up with stitches over three on the diagonal and vice versa. Take a look at the diagram below. It should help as you try the needlepoint stitch out on your own!

Try this stitch on a bird! It also is a great stitch for a roof! We can't wait to see what you do with it on your next canvas. Tag us on Instagram to show us!
