Jinny's Stitching Tips: Why I love Planet Earth Essentials

Planet Earth Essentials is a fantastic needlepoint thread because of its high-quality, soft feel. Essentials is designed to be used on 18 mesh and it glides effortlessly through the canvas as you stitch. It comes in a wide range of vibrant colors- in fact! They just added 32 more shades to the line!

Essentials is a 50/50 wool/silk blend. This helps keep the price point of the fiber down. This is particularly helpful to many stitchers if you're working on a project with lots and lots of colors. For this reason, you will find it recommended all over the place in my needlepoint stitch guides!

Essentials is great for beginner and advanced stitchers! It is what is known as a single strand thread- meaning you use it just as it comes off the card or skein. There is no need to ply or strand it before you stitch with it. This particularly helps if you're a stitcher who likes to needlepoint on the go! It works well whether you're stitching in basketweave or with decorative stitches!

The very best thing about Essentials is that it comes in both card and skein form! Cards have 10 yards of thread and skeins have 30 yards of thread. If you just need a couple of stitches, you can purchase a card- meaning you aren't left with a ton of extra thread you don't need. If you're working on a bigger area of color, or if it's a color you love and want to keep in your stash, purchase a skein!

I know you'll love this fabulous fiber just as much as I do. I find myself reaching for Essentials on almost every canvas I stitch.
